Taking good care of travellers and our local community
In our previous blog post, we shared the exciting news that we have been awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland certification for the third consecutive year. In that article, we listed a range of actions we have taken in the past year to actively combat climate change and biodiversity loss.
In order for our travel and business operations to be truly sustainable, it is essential for us to prioritise the well-being of our customers, staff, and local community – to fulfil our social responsibility as a company.
Over the past year, we have promoted people’s well-being in the following ways:
- Our goal is to make all three of our villas fully accessible by June 2023. We will keep you updated on this exciting project through all possible channels!
- We celebrate equality, diversity, and inclusivity every day. We warmly welcome all visitors just as they are. We are honoured to be part of the We Speak Gay Community and to support the organization of the first-ever Pride Picnic in Vihti in June 2023.
- We continuously organize and coordinate events that bring together businesses and stakeholders to work towards building a sustainable world. One example of such an event is the unique celebration of fire and ice, Lux Nuuksio.
- We have created an art trail for the enjoyment of our guests, showcasing the works of local artists Reija Virtanen, Maaria Melin, Johannes Lahtinen, Kirsti Ala-Outinen, and Annu Huotari.
- All the flour we use comes from the nearby Hennola Home Bakery, and our coffee is sourced in accordance with Fair Trade standards from Cafetoria.
- We maintain an ongoing collaboration with a local school and the Kiipula Foundation, which provides education and rehabilitation services. This collaboration enables students to participate in visits, land restoration workshops, internships, and scholarships.
- We arrange visits, participate in panels, and share our expertise to promote responsible travel in collaboration with other businesses in the industry.
- We reward our staff for their development ideas that contribute to sustainability.
P.S. We hope to announce more information about all our accessible services very soon!
